DynamicSignals LLC Company Profile

DynamicSignals LLC is a privately held, US-based small business entity. We have been in business for 40 years originally under the KineticSystems banner. In 1999, the company, under new management undertook a growth strategy that focused heavily on acquisitions of complimentary entities with proven products that DynamicSignals could manufacture yet still market under the acquired company’s brand. To that end, we added the Preston Scientific and Cyber Systems brands in 2002, the Gage Applied Technologies brand in 2003 and Signatec in 2011. While we maintain offices in Anaheim (Los Angeles), CA and Lachine (Montreal), Quebec, Canada, the combined companies headquarters and unified manufacturing facility is in Lockport (Chicago), IL. The company is quite vertically integrated in that all product design and assembly is done in-house. DynamicSignals utilizes its own automated surface-mount PCB assembly line as well as through-hole PCB assembly capability. Our employees total 60 with approximately 50% being technical/engineering oriented.

As a whole, the company’s largest market can be defined as Mil-Aerospace and/or Defense. Annual sales to these customers average >50% of total sales. For the Kinetics, Signatec, Preston and Cyber brands this percentage is probably higher. Gage’s primary market is Universities and Research Labs. Many of these projects also benefit from Government and, in some cases DoD funding. The respective brands are sold through a combination of channels including direct sales people (2 US-based and 2 Canadian-based) and a network of independent sales reps and international distributors. Approximately 60% of our sales are to the US. The 40% international is concentrated in Europe (Germany, France and the UK) and Asia (Japan, Korea, India and China). Other strong international markets include Canada and Israel.

Our customers are an impressive list of DoD entities and large DoD prime contractors. We sell directly to the Airforce (AFRL, Wright-Patterson, Arnold, Edwards, Hill, etc.), the Navy (NSWC, NUWC, NRL, etc.), the Army (Yuma Proving Grounds, TACOM, etc.), and the Coast Guard. In addition, we have sold to virtually every NASA site in the US. However, most often we get involved with projects through the large, prime contractors. Over the years, Northrop, Boeing, Lockheed, BAE, EADS, Honeywell, Raytheon, General Electric, General Dynamics, Rockwell and the like have been some of our most valuable customers.

The company’s product offering has traditionally been designed as general purpose function cards to meet industry recognized standards including CAMAC, VXI, PCI/PCIe, cPCI and PXI/PXIe platforms. Additionally, we have developed proprietary platforms to meet the specific needs of certain applications or market requirements. These products range from very high-speed, low channel-count digitizers to lower-speed, high-channel count data acquisition cards for functional test. As a result, our products are used in a wide variety of applications including various jet and rocket engine, wind tunnel, structural and ballistic test systems to name a few. Many applications are, quite literally unknown to us due to the classified nature of the project. For example, in 2007 we were part of a DARPA Program to produce a very high performance (ENOB and bandwidth) digitizer for future use by the DoD.
